Day Two - Sex Slave
Here we are, this is a gem called "Sex Slave". I have no idea what was going through Derm's head when he made this shit up, but it's hilarious and it took all of my attention to not laugh while we were recording it. The drums are actually a cheap, some-what broken hand drum with cigarette burns in the head. I'm hitting the plastic rim on the drum with a pencil and playing the drum itself with my thumb and index finger. After that was recorded, I went on to the bass guitar, and got that down in one fell swoop after a couple missed starts. Next up I did a little more percussion experimenting, deciding it was a good idea to hit this metal ashtray with a pencil. I did this while recording the backing vocals at the same time. For some reason I became British while recording this. It sounds rad. I ripped this song off from Alice in Chains' Rooster, by the way.
Here it is, (I'M HER) SEX SLAVE
Day Two - Pre-session notes
All right here we are, day number two. I got about 30 minutes of sleep, so as soon as I was able to turn the amp on I was back at it. I'm going through material improvised by me and my associate, Mr. Derm, that has been sitting around gathering dust on ye olde hard drivel. There are a lot of good ideas to be re-recorded there, a lot of not so good ones, and then there's some that can be used as they are, with additional instruments on top. Today's plan is to do another 3, adding bass, drums, synth, guitar, and vocals were it seems right. So the plan for today is to do the following songs:
"Sex Slave"
"General Electric"
"She Ate My Sandwich"
"She's a Bitch and She's Having A Bad Day" (this one may not happen today).
I've already finished Sex Slave, so I'm going to try to fall back asleep soon. It's hard to stay in tempo when you're passing out while you're playing. blahblahblhabl here comes the song entry.

Day One - Dick in the Dirt
Back in the mid 90's a video game came out for the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo. This game was called "Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure" It is said that upon hearing about this game, Derm's dad said "What's next? A game called Dick in the Dirt?" Sadly, that game never came to be. Luckily, it is now a terribad rap song that had zero effort put into it. I used a Kid Rock song as the beat, stretched to hell and back.
Last but not least (well, probably least actually..) here is "Dick in the Dirt"
end day one
Day One - South East
Destroying a perfectly fine song. It's what we do some times. This one was recorded last year or something.
And here is a bonus version, it's the song before I put it through the mutilator 5000.
Day One - Show Me On The Map
We made this one up last night. As usual for our improvised recordings, the guitars and vocals are done at the simultaneously and then I add crap on top. This ones pretty sloppy because the original recording was really clipped. I clipped it more and added drums.
Here is "Show Me On The Map"
Day One - Captain Fantasy
This came together really fast. I sampled the drums from the start of the original song (it is just looped, as it is here) I laid down 3 guitar tracks using my "Kind of One" Stratocaster with Telecaster pickups/bridge, into my Crate XT120R solo channel, no effects. Each track uses a different pickup combination and guitar volume setting, blah blah blah technical bullshit I'd like to keep track of. It sounds like the Ween boys used a 420 ms delay on the vocal track, so I replicated that, although I left the repeats much quieter than their version. Speaking of 420, I forgot the order of the "there"s and "here"s in the choruses. Oh well.
So here it is, "Captain Fantasy"
Update 5:46 pm
I forgot the bass. And I fixed the whole "too much mid range on the vocals" problem I've been having with this microphone. Next update will have finished song.
Update 6:43 pm
Final mix is done. Enjoy.

Day One - Pre-session Notes
Today marks the start of this project. On the plate includes a cover of Ween's "Captain Fantasy', as well as a few tracks me and my associate improvised last night while under heavy sedation. Something about eating an old man's heart to gain his old man strength (and immortality to boot!) The vocals on the new Yesticles songs are clipped to all fuck, hopefully I can work some magic and make them not cause bloody ears. That's about it... Time to hit the DAW
Day One - Mission Statement
You have found a blog. This blog will document the efforts of one hack musician/producer (J. Best) and his accomplice in crime (J. Nycholas) as they embark on a journey into the land of recording a new album for their "band" (Yesticles)
Goal:
To record, mix, and upload music every day for 30 consecutive days.
